One will live. One will die. Choose life or death. Or the decision will be made for you.

Demons break through mortal flesh. Dolls once playthings for children spring to life with vicious intent. The dead of animal and human alike lash out in malevolent wrath. A multitude of horrors are inflicted upon Avita as she is forced to choose before it's too late.

Why do they have to die so I can live?

Who or what is doing this to me?

Is there a way to escape?

How did I get here?

Where am I?

Speak to

Me.

Music often inspires scenes, helps mold the tone of a narrative, and in some cases, defines a character.

What follows is a collection of songs that are the soundtrack to this novel.

The haunting quality of the song and the connecting point of the word silence would introduce the movie. There are hints of answers to questions proposed throughout the narrative seeded in the song. The root of the novel is a mystery. What is happening? Where is she? Only at the end does she discover the truth.

The song describes what it feels like to be inside the mind of someone struggling with depression, fueled by anger and self-loathing. It is acknowledging that these elements are something that is familiar, like a friend to someone who suffered through these experiences. One must overcome these to heal from their past.

Originally sung by Linkin Park, this is a slower, more somber version that creates a sense of giving into fate. In the book, Avita is struggling against what feels like an unending series of events. At many points along her journey, she feels that what is the point? In the end, it won’t matter. This song reflects those feelings.

When I first began writing the book, I refused to write it without knowing the ending. It's rare that ever know the finale to a book when I first begin it. I had to know going into it, was it worth it? What's the point of it all? This song embodies that conclusion and hopefully resonates with a movie audience.

Have you read the novel:

Avita

Avita has been psychological and physically abused since she was a child. Her mother died of alcoholism, her father of a drug overdose. She is filled with bitter anger, hatred for humanity, and has given up hope for her life. She finds herself trapped in an endless cycle of painful, torturous scenarios that threatens to destroy her.

Bonus Scene: Not Found In Book

In a movie/television presentation of Prisoner of Silence... Hopefully, in time, a scene will come to mind that would be an ideal addition to this narrative. However, as of yet, none has been established. If you have read the novel and during your experience with this incredible world, you have come up with a potentially "deleted" scene not found in the book, an idea for the opening, or an interesting way to close out the story, then contact us at this address. If we like the idea, it will become cannon with you credited as creator of this scenario.

Hidden Author

Where would the Author make a cameo?

Stan Lee is notorious for making a cameo in movies and television series based off his written works. With that in mind, where would the author of this novel make an appearance in a visual adaptation of the book?

There is a scene in a hospital near the end of the novel where there is a physical therapist offering aid and assistance to Edgar. His name is Clarence, named after the angel from the movie: It's a Wonderful Life. What better way for the author to make an appearence then in this scene, providing help to one of the two main characters? A perfect  role to play for a story about hope and embracing life.
