Captain Lexia and the crew of the Starship Sunfire receive a message from Tinker, the cyborg that once served as the ship’s engineer. It is a revelation of his greatest discovery and a warning that they must stop what has already been set into motion before it’s too late.

Encountering colossal giants, breaking into a high security prison, and being trapped in a holographic reality of 1950s Earth is only the beginning. Guided by a cybernetic ghost, they must confront a cataclysmic event that reaches beyond the boundaries of space and time.

Luckily for the Universe, Lexia loves a good challenge.

Music often inspires scenes, helps mold the tone of a narrative, and in some cases, defines a character.

What follows is a collection of songs that are the soundtrack to this novel.

This is the opening for the second season of the Sunfire Chronicles as a television series. The opening credits of each season will reflect the changing cast of characters and allow for the opportunity to make numerous references to pop culture when it comes to science fiction and sci-fi, as well as introduce the characters.

This song inspired the opening scene of the book that led up to the crew barely escaping with their lives in the cargo bay of the Sunfire. It would play alongside the series of events that introduces the characters and leads them into an action packed adventure. It helps set the tone and energy of the story.

This is Lexia's theme song. Nothing is impossible in her mind. She is the kind of person who will leap off a tall building and figure out how she's going to survive on the way down. She's fearless, determined, refusing to accept defeat, and always pushing herself to do the right thing no matter the risk.

This is one of many songs that sets the tone, would be ideal mood music, and helps shape the attitude of the characters in the minds of the audience. There is a sense of facing obstacles with determination, overcoming aspects of life that may hold you back but you push forward. That is the crew of the Sunfire.

An plot element formed for this book due to this song. The concept of a prisoner being escorted by four guards. This big, nasty looking creature. Suddenly two guards knock out the other two and reveal themselves to be Lexia and Glen. After that everything fell into place and led to a series of shocking events.

This song inspired a "deleted" scenario that does not occur in the novel but would be ideal visually for a movie or television series based off the book. This will add to the experience for the visual representation of the book. Learn more about this new addition below under the "Bonus Scene" section of this page.

Tinker's Treasure : The Movie

Lexia

Played by:

Zendaya

Zendaya is an actress that can reveal the subtle elements between Lexia's complex personality. She can embody the painful past, the playful humor, and the serious-minded leader. She can handle the physical demands of the role while expressing the depths of emotion that is Captain Lexia of the Starship Sunfire.

Dryad

Played by:

Francesca Reale

Dryad is one of those characters that opens up a world of wonders for an actress in that the character is constantly developing, learning, and exploring new aspects of her personality as well as growing list of talents. Francesca has that wide eyed, innocent look to her that is ideal for this unique individual.

Glen

Played by:

Adam Rodriquez

He can be the action hero persona, but also portray a man who lets immediate concerns be like background noise that he ignores as he stays focused on the objective. He can show that yearning to be more emotional and expressive, but still show that reserved uncertainty that would fit Glen so well.

Edward

Played by:

Patrick Warburton

Patrick can be the serious character of the 1950s. He could portray that version of how men behaved in television and movies, even over acting in the way they did back then. He is one the few actors who could shift fluidly between his male persona and impersonating Dryad's behavior when her personality influences him.

Brent

Played by:

Jim Parsons

Jim can portray the innocence and curiosity that this character is often motivated by. He can bring forth a genuine humanity to what would be a rigidly robotic role. He could play that fine line between being reserved and exploring emotional connections. Brent’s persona would play so well with this actor’s strengths.

Frank

Played by:

Vin Diesel

The character would need a voice actor with a rumbling voice. His portrayal of the robot in the Iron Giant would be ideal in that this inhuman character proves to be compassionate with this resonating voice. It would be a challenge to maintain a relatively monotone voice yet reveal emotional depth.

Tinker

Played by:

Jim Beaver

Jim can play the gentle southern gentleman with a sense of humor. Combine this with his ability to be gruff, abrasive without being mean about it, that "tough love" mentality plays perfectly into the character's persona. That emotional depth of coping with a tragic past is where this actor will truly shine.

Gold

Played by:

Vivienne Acheampong

Gold has been alive for thousands of years, bringing with her a relaxed, calm understanding of the Universe. Vivienne has that presence that I hope for Gold to bring to screen. Wise, comforting, gentle in her tone, a guide, a counselor, someone willing to say what is needed, and a powerful individual in a subdued, subtle way.

Parallax

Parallax was once an artificial intelligence incorporated into the mainframe of the Starship Sunfire. A transformation occurred that trapped the AI into a synthetic replication of a humanoid body. She serves as second in command and pilot. She finds herself developing emotions, much to her growing frustration.

Bonus Scene: Not Found In Book

In a movie/television presentation of Tinker's Treasure, after the conclusion of the second season of the television series, there is a bonus scene which shows Lexia and her crew returning to the planet where Tinker was buried. The tombstone reads his real name, Daniel. He is buried next to his wife. Each passed away nearly a thousand years (rotations) prior to their visiting of his final resting place. Lexia begins singing the soulful version of the song "Carry On Wayward Son" as mentioned earlier on this page. That version has two female singers, the other joining Lexia is Dryad. The rest of the crew joins in at one point as a chorus as they say farewell to a close friend for the last time.

Hidden Author

Where would the Author make a cameo?

Stan Lee is notorious for making a cameo in movies and television series based off his written works. With that in mind, where would the author of this novel make an appearance in a visual adaptation of the book?

In the novel, there is a hint of Lexia being involved with what is referred to as a "musical". In a world set in a reality depicted on television and movies of the 1950s, breaking out into song and dance is to be expected. In a bonus scene hinted at but not described in the novel as an elaborate distraction, what better way for the author to make a cameo then to be among those involved with the event? Singing, dancing, and having fun with the crew of the Sunfire.
